Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about collection, decisions, and service scope.

The assessment is designed to be decisive when evidence supports a result and explicit when data or validation is required.

Does Savio need access to my AWS account?

No. The primary SQL Server collector is customer-run and the verified ZIP is uploaded manually. The service does not log in to the customer AWS account.

Does the collector change application data?

No application tables or customer rows are modified. The collector uses approved read-only workload queries and a bounded collector-owned staging lifecycle described in the collector documentation.

What does action-ready mean?

The target passed the required CPU, memory, IOPS, throughput, tempdb, storage compatibility, orderability, evidence, and independent-verification gates. The customer still owns change planning, monitoring, and rollback.

What is an additional opportunity?

It is a smaller target whose hard capacity fits but which has a stated validation condition. It remains separate and never replaces the primary action-ready target.

What happens when evidence is incomplete?

The report flags the affected data issue and continues every analysis that remains technically valid. It requests a new collection only when the missing evidence prevents a reliable decision.

Are dollar savings calculated?

Not yet. The current product reports technical compute, licensed-vCPU, and storage-provisioning opportunities. It does not claim dollar savings without an approved Region-specific pricing model.

Does every assessment identify a reduction?

No. A measured stay-as-is outcome is valid evidence that the approved candidate set cannot safely reduce current capacity.

When is Layer 2 useful?

For validation-required opportunities, unusual workloads, implementation planning, post-change review, or a customer-requested expert deep dive. It is not mandatory for a normal action-ready result.

How long should I run the collector?

Run the collector for at least 7 days, and ideally 14 days or more, so the evidence covers normal business peaks. Under 2 days, Savio asks for a new collection; 3 to 7 days gives only a preliminary result. Each upload uses one assessment run, so a collection that is too short uses a run without giving a full answer.

How do I sign in?

Enter your work email on the sign-in page and open the one-time link Savio sends you. There is no password. Links expire, so request a new one if an older link does not work.

I lost the collector I downloaded. What now?

Sign in and download it again. You get the same personal collector, and earlier collector output still uploads to your account.

Can I see my earlier assessments?

Yes. Sign in and open My assessments to reopen any earlier report and download it again as PDF, CSV, or JSON.

How do I get help?

Email [email protected]. Include the email address you sign in with, but never send database passwords or AWS credentials.

Still evaluating the service?

Review packages or inspect the report structure before collecting evidence.
